Hold Up ... is held up? Fascism in France, part 2
French government bans new Covid-related movie Hold Up.
On the 11th November, the French-made movie “Hold Up” was released online. From what I understand, it was an instant success, being viewed more than 6 million times. Yet this last week (within one week of its release), it was BANNED in France.
Why, I wonder?
If it reported erroneous information, wouldn’t the government pursue remedy via the courts? You know, as has been done in western democracies since, well, we became democracies.
Sadly, it appears this is just more of a 2020 phenomenon whereby we’ve all witnessed Big Tech - in co-operation with mainstream media (and now, seemingly government) - has been squashing free speech.
Think about that for a moment. Government, Big Tech (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc) are now deleting tweets, marking posts as “false” - as determined by nameless “fact checkers” - and now banning some from even accessing privately-owned platform. All due to politically-motivated reasons. Even a US POTUS has had his posts/tweets deleted or “qualified” … many times. If you agree with Trump or not, it’s dangerous for Big Tech to “filter” messaging from a president.
So, back to France and the banning of Hold Up. Ask yourself this most simple of questions ... why?
Is it #FakeNews? Alternative facts? Is it our governments protecting their citizens….?
Or protecting itself?
Are we, the citizens, so looked down upon by our political & business leadership that we are not to be trusted to be able to process information that, perhaps, don’t paint aforementioned leaders in the best light possible?
Whether Voltaire actually stated the following or not, it is germane to the current world situation of fearmongering and media control, all seemingly to perpetuate the Covid lockdowns and coming vaccine programs ... “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it”
It appears the country that gave us the Enlightenment has lost its way.
Is Liberté, égalité, fraternité a thing of the past?
Post scriptum: one CAN still see the movie on unfiltered platforms like LBRY...
